More than basketball. EPIC Youth is a highly competitive basketball program built on the foundational principles of faith, leadership and athletics.
EPIC is a unique organization that combines elite basketball training with formalized character-building programs. "More Than Basketball!"
Team practices include weekly devotionals that focus on real life application of Christian values. In life, it is important for the youth to have a strong self-image. EPIC Youth believes that by clearly understanding one’s identity in Christ it will increase one’s self-esteem. By increasing self-image and eliminating restrictions on one’s capabilities, it provides an environment conducive for excellence.
EPIC Youth has partnered with KAMYLIN Worldwide to create a unique leadership development program. EPIC’s goal is to teach leadership skills that transfer to the basketball court, the classroom and in life.
Each week, students take turns leading their team in a weekly discussion, which focus on situations and ideals in life (i.e. teamwork, problem-solving, perseverance, etc.). The discussions consist of the team sharing circumstances, in sports and in life, when their leadership skills can be applied.
The academic prep program consists of two components: tutoring and college exposure. With several teachers on staff, children can set up time for extra study help with a member from the EPIC staff. The college exposure portion is a progressive curriculum that begins in 8th grade.
Discussions are held with parents and children on requirements and expectations to be a student and an athlete at various collegiate levels. The college tour is the highlight of the program, as high schoolers get a chance to experience college campus, team practices and games!
Service to Others
Service to others is a powerful tool that has an empowering effect for all involved parties. By giving our young people the gift of serving, it gives perspective and appreciation for their many blessings.
Throughout the season EPIC participates in multiple volunteer outings in the community. The volunteer events give the teams a chance to serve others, which EPIC believes is a Christ-like act that gives more to the giver than recipient.
